First Time Facial

If it's your first time visiting us, your Skin Therapist will ask you some questions about the reasons for getting a Facial, your current physical condition, medical history, lifestyle, stress level, experiences with specific areas of attention and whether there is any specific need you want addressed during the facial.

First and foremost, the Skin Therapist needs to make sure there aren't any conditions present that rule out having a facial due to any health risks.

Second, the Skin Therapist needs to know what your needs are regarding the facial so that both of you are clear about what your expectations and goals are for the session.

Third, the information you provide helps the Skin Therapist determine what products and techniques to use and how to structure the session.

what your skin therapist needs to know

After discussing your needs, your Skin Therapist will leave the room to provide privacy while you disrobe. You should take off only as much as you are comfortable removing. You should also remove jewelry or other articles that may interfere with the facial. After disrobing, you will lie flat and face-up on the massage table, covering yourself with comfortable linens. These are provided for draping during the facial, and the Skin Therapist will uncover only the part of the body being worked-on (face, neck and arms), insuring that modesty is respected at all times. The draping also keeps you warm. If you want more covering, don’t hesitate to ask!

Your facial takes place on a comfortable, padded facial table equipped with a heating device to keep you warm. If you would prefer, you can request that the heater be turned down or off. The Skin Therapist will tell you what position to lie in on the table. The table may have some extra attachments or cushions, such as a leg bolster (which allows you to lie in a face up in a more comfortable position). If you don't like using any attachments, ask the Skin Therapist to remove it.

To heighten your experience, Massage Heights uses one of the top products in the industry... dermalogica®. We also offer you the choice of aromatherapy with specially formulated essential oils to help you Breathe, Relax and Energize.

Expect a peaceful and comfortable environment for your skin treatment. The room is equipped with overhead music to enhance your experience. If you prefer a completely quiet environment, ask the Skin Therapist to turn the music off. The lights can be dimmed during the session, or if you’d like more light, feel free to ask.

The key to obtaining your goals during your session is communication. Your Skin Therapist will do a skin analysis (Face Mapping) and let you know the needs of your skin. Based on those they will educate you on how each product affects your skin and how to use this product at home on a regular basis for upkeep of your vibrant new tone. For example, our core facial is for combination and/or oily skin, but during the skin analysis if your Skin Therapists discovers you need an Anti-Aging booster or serum they will let you know what it does and why your skin will benefit from it. If there is anything that does not feel comfortable or right or you do not like, you have the right to ask the Skin Therapist to stop. Throughout the session, the Skin Therapist will ask about the level of pressure and comfort of product, and you should take this opportunity to communicate the level in which you feel comfortable.

After the facial is finished, you will once again be provided with privacy in order to get dressed. At this time, you may ask about any questions you have. The usual length of a session is 50min. At Massage Heights, the goal of the Skin Therapist is always to relax and restore your skin.

FACE MAPPING SKIN ANALYSIS

Face Mapping® is Dermalogica’s unique skin analysis that provides insight into your skin’s past and present, and allows your Licensed Skin Therapist to customize a professional treatment and home care prescription for a healthy skin future.

Developed by Dermalogica, Face Mapping® takes no more than five to ten minutes, is free, and eliminates the guesswork when selecting products for results on your skin.

Rather than analyzing the skin in general terms, our Dermalogica certified Skin Therapist uses Face Mapping® to divide the faciallandscape into fourteen zones. Each zone is thoroughly examined inch-by-inch through touch and sight, and findings are notated on a prescription sheet.

Your prescription sheet serves as a customized visual guide for you, outlining on an actual facial landscape illustration where conditions including congestion, breakouts, dehydration, aging and/or hyperpigmentation are present.

Face Mapping® maintains an accurate record of your skin, which provides you and your Skin Therapist an objective view into the results of any professional product recommendation.
